Daylight overdraft: A Daylight Overdraft occurs when the balance in an account drops below zero during the day. Most accounting systems have determined overdrafts by processing debits and credits during an overnight batch run. Increasingly, banks have begun to manage the balance during the day to ensure that their customers do not transfer out large amount of funds in the morning with the intent of repaying in the afternoon.
