Smollen and team on the move from Deutsche Bank?
October 18, 2019

A whisper on the industry grapevine suggests that Tim Smollen, New York-based Global Head of Agency Lending at Deutsche Bank, could soon be on the move.

The whisper has it that Smollen and his agency securities lending team at Deutsche are being ‘acquired' by a person or persons as yet unknown. This news comes with the Bank in the throes of a major restructuring. If true, it would mirror past transactions in which Smollen and his team have been involved in transitioning an agency lending business as a going concern and in moving key team members to new host banks and other institutions.

We have asked Deutsche Bank, and Smollen, for confirmation and further details, if true, and will update this article as we learn more.

Smollen himself has been in his current position for almost a decade, having been active in securities lending since at least 1995 when he became Head of Securities Lending EMEA at JP Morgan.
