CDS Clearing and Depository Services Inc.
Profile
CDS is Canada's national securities clearing, settlement and depository organization, working to continually improve Canadian capital market efficiency by providing cost-effective services to its clients – banks, brokers, trust companies and other financial industry members. CDS links electronically with NSCC/DTC in the US and has custodial links with Euroclear and Japan Securities Settlement & Custody, INC. (JSSC). A growing number of equity and most debt securities are immobilized in CDS with some available only in book-entry. Equities are processed in two batch cycles each day. Government of Canada debt and all money market securities settle on-line real-time with finality of securities settlement.

Partnering with the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) and Canadian stock exchanges, CDS INC. (a subsidiary of CDS), introduced the System for Electronic Data Analysis and Retrieval (SEDAR), an electronic filing and retrieval system for securities issuers, regulators and investors. CDS also developed and manages the National Registration Database (NRD), a web-based electronic filing system for dealers and advisors and the System for Electronic Disclosure by Insiders (SEDI), a web-based insider trading reporting tool - both in conjunction with the CSA.
