Gabian named as Citi MSS Spain and Portugal Head

Citi has advised this afternoon that Miguel Gabian has been appointed as Madrid-based Head of Markets and Securities Services for Spain and Portugal: He is and will be based in Madrid. He was previously the Head of Corporate Sales and Solutions (CSG) for Spain and Portugal within the Markets business.

Gabian began his career in 1992 at the Spanish Foreign Trade Commission in Malaysia and Singapore, later joining JP Morgan in 1994 as a trader in the Spanish Government and Corporate Bond Trading Desks. He joined Citi in 1997 gaining origination and structuring experience, and innovating and developing Markets solutions across all asset classes.

He will be responsible for leading and coordinating the Markets and Securities Services (MSS) business strategy in Spain and Portugal, delivering the full product platform of MSS to all client segments (Financial Institutions, Corporates and Public Sector), in co-ordination with global products.

He will lead for MSS senior client and regulatory relationships in Spain and Portugal, and will work in close partnership with trading, structuring, research and Banking Capital Markets & Advisory to source and drive transactions in collaboration with the Markets team. Gabian retains his direct responsibility for CSG and in this role he will continue report to Mark Mathieson.

He will report to Flavio Figueiredo, Western Europe Markets Head (excluding UK), as well as to Bill Van Dyke, Spain Country Officer.
