DTCC's Garrison joins IMF WG
March 17, 2017

Robert Garrison, DTCC Managing Director and Chief Information Officer, has been appointed to a new financial technology advisory group at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The aim of the group is to help IMF staff better understand the impact new technologies will have on finance and regulation.

Garrison said: "Fintech's potential global impact on the economy, finance and regulation will likely be far-reaching, and it is critical to forge closer ties between key players to ensure we realize the full potential of transformative new technologies."

Christine Lagarde, IMF Managing Director, welcomed the establishment of the new group, which is composed of thought leaders in the field of finance and technology and includes industry pioneers, regulators, lawyers and academics. The Group will provide advice to help IMF staff deepen its understanding of FinTech issues. It will work closely with an IMF's Interdepartmental Working Group on Finance and Technology.
