BNP Paribas highlights securities services contribution to results
May 5, 2020

BNP Paribas has issued its first quarter 2020 results this morning. It has very helpfully identified the following as the Securities Services highlights.[PARA]

Securities Services revenues, at EUR 577 million, were up 11.8 percent compared to the first quarter 2019, driven by the increase in average outstandings and an extraordinary level of transaction volumes (+36.9 percent on average compared to the first quarter 2019).

Growth continued in the Asia Pacific region (+35 percent compared to the first quarter 2019) and in the Americas (+40 percent compared to the first quarter 2019).

Assets under custody and under administration rose, on average, by 6.3 percent compared to the first quarter 2019, but outstandings at the end of the period were down by 4.8 percent compared to March 31 2019 due to stock market valuations.

BNP Paribas Securities Services continued its strategic development with the announcement of the acquisition of Banco Sabadell's depositary business in Spain and the setting up of a strategic alliance with BlackRock to deliver asset managers integrated services with the Aladdin platform.

Assets under custody and administration:

Average outstandings: +6.3 percent versus Q1 2019;

At the end of March: -4.8 percent versus 31.03.2019 due to the impact of market declines at the end of March.
